It is 12km form Mahón, the administrative capital, and 33km from Ciutadella, the religious capital. It is a very charming town with narrow winding streets which conjure up images of Medieval times, not surprising since it was founded in 1304 by king Jaume I of Mallorca. An easy stroll along its streets will give the visitor the opportunity of seeing the Parish Church, of a late gothic style. Standing at the top of the hill, the down spreads down from it. Its present shape dates from the XVII century, as does the Town hall which also boasts the title of “Monument with Historical and Artistic Interest”. Another curious place to visit is a Francisca cloister which was once converted into dwellings and is popularly known as “Pati de sa Lluna” (the Moon Patio) - it is truly a magic place.
